Since the 28 of October 1948 the National flag of Israel represents a blue Magen David (the star of David), on a white background and between two blue stripes.
The white and blue colors derive from the prayer shawl of the Judaism.
Israel was born in 1947, after the ONU 147 resolution on Palestine. Up to 1979 the boundaries did not exist.
The blue color of the two horizontal stripes hails to the prayer shawl, the Magen David is the emblem which was used many centuries ago on the banners and then on the National flag.
Officially the blue color is described as “yale blue”: it is a more feeble color than the others which are used on the other jewish flags.
