Since the 3 of March 1992 the National and civil flag of Kyrgyztan has a red background with, at the core, a yellow sun with 40 rays. Inside of it, there is a red ring which is crossed from many yellow lines.
The red colour represents Manas the Noble, a National hero. The 40 rays symbolize the tribes of the country and the central symbol is a stylised yurt, the traditional nomad’s house. It is the tent of the steppe nomads and it symbolizes the space and time union, the origins of life, hearth and home.
In 1991 the Kyrgyztan republic was the last soviet country which proclaimed its independence.
